Conservation activities


The WLFN are active participants in local and provincial conservation initiatives that include:
  • organizing the annual Christmas Bird Count for the Williams Lake area since 1971

  • the Bluebird House Project that has established numerous routes of nesting boxes that are maintained and monitored annually by club members since 1978

    promotion of public appreciation and non-motorized use of the Williams Lake River Valley

  • involvement in land planning processes such as aiding with the development of management plans for Bowron Lakes, Cariboo Mountains, Cariboo River, Junction Sheep Range, Ts'yl-os, Flat Lake, and Itcha-Ilgachuz Provincial Parks, Churn Creek Protected Area, and the Cariboo-Chilcotin Land Use Plan

  • development of a management plan for the Scout Island Nature Centre

  • creation of the following checklists [where title is hot-linked, click for PDF version to read, print or download]:
There is no charge for these checklists but donations to the WLFN are always welcome and put to good use
